Certainly we were better off before we went into Iraq, simply containing the minimal threat that existed there. I don't follow education so I have no opinion on NCLB except that many educators seem to think it sucks. An activist stance on subprime lending could have averted a small disaster, however. That is a disease that might have been cured or averted. That's the kind of thing I'd like to see my government do. Stop bad problems and not create new ones. Whether any given administration succeeds at that is probably a coin flip.
