Frankly, I believe tax increases on gasoline are part of any balanced plan that works.

You favor a tax on oil. I misread you. The regressive part can be handled with a rebate up to the poverty level - or wherever.

The concept of taxation is simple - if you want less of something you tax it - if you want more of something you tax it less.

And that is why I said I could buy off on the trade-off between drilling in your favorite place for an increase on the tax on oil. So do you think McCain would favor increasing the tax on oil?
