John - with all due respect - how do you draw the conclusion above? I think you are better than that.
Do you not think a tax is a burden and that compensating policy changes could make tax increases more positive? That is what Bill Clinton did and Clinton's tax increases are very often sited as an example of why higher taxes can work. Do you think Bill Clinton could run on how he governed today?
Well, you might start by answering the question, Bob. You are good enough to do that. Do you think that "taxes paid to the federal government produce absolutely no benefit to both the general public and to the business sector as well."
I'll make it more explicit. Do you think that roads, bridges, subways, schools, libraries, bring no benefit. I gather the answer is, of course, they do. And we haven't yet gotten to secondary effects, such as giving people jobs, from which they pay taxes and spend money on goods, which are produced, etc. |
