We haven't had 30 years of mass privitization with contraction of the public sector. We have had 30 years of the public sector expanding. Only extreme libertarians (and really only anarcho-capitalists), want to privatize everything. Few libertarians come close to that, and conservatives are so far away the idea isn't even on their radar screen. What is the point of decreasing government as a percentage of the economy? To increase individual freedom, economic growth, and economic efficiency. (Probably in that order in terms of priorities)
