Right now, if I started stacking up the states, I would put NC as definitely a swing state, but leaning Dem.

I suppose that this election will be very different than the ones we have seen in 2000 and 2004. It would be the revival of true democracy, I would think.

The evangelicals will not be motivated to come to the polls in such large numbers as in 2000 and 2004. The kitchen table issues will mobilize a lot of middle-aged folks to the polls. The deteriorating health care system and SS will bring the seniors and most importantly, the 20 year olds will flock to the polls if a young candidate like Barack Obama is a candidate.

The politics of fear such as this one; Message 24528576, which shockingly has crept to this thread, will never fly anymore with the American public.
