I do know Wcom & Bernie (Bernie & I went to grade school together--that's a joke). Taking on MFS & WilTel and a relatively small number of employees is one thing. Taking on MCI and 50,000 employees is a whole new ballgame.

WorldCom has made a powerplay and I respect that. However, they are in over their heads. They may win MCI, but that still doesn't change the fact that they are in over their heads.

Their hodge-podge-bastardized network is a freaking mess. How many different platforms are they trying to integrate? They have had switch outages over the last 18 months that are unprecedented by a major carrier.

Of course nobody talks about that. MCI should take the money and run like hell away from Wcom.
