Since we have samples to look at, we should see what we can borrow from their systems to improve ours.

The examples have their own problems, and also occur in different conditions than in the US, so you can't automatically expect the same results (if you even want the same results) by copying those systems.

In any case "we should look at other systems and see what we can borrow" doesn't answer the question.

What would you borrow?

The fastest way to universal health care

That's begging the question that a government initiative for universal health care is the way to go.

At this point in time, given what other countries have experienced, single payer systems appear to work the best.

I disagree.

But I am glad that we are really talking about the issues, and responding to each other's points now. Much better than talking past each other or throwing insults.
