I will spell things out as the basis to begin the discussion.

- Universal coverage.
- No one goes bankrupt from medical bills or goes without care.
- Single payer that also collects and distributes the data as needed for patient care.
- Cost control through regulation.
- Preventive care which will become easier since cost control (and not maximizing of profits) will be the governing financial consideration.
- More doctors in more places. A free medical education would be a good idea along with more stringent controls over professional misconduct that would go a ways to getting rid of medical malpractice.

I am primarily interested in universal coverage and cost control of the system as a whole. I am also interested in seeing it now and not in 20 years.
