Wage or salary plus benefits, plus training costs, plus VA benefits, plus having to permanently keep the military larger rather than having the flexibility of having temporary contracts with outside companies... Now your claim is rather dubious.

Perhaps. And then you have to train all those new draftees, which makes it take longer. Current training slots would be a major bottleneck. Of course you could also increase the training slots, even build new bases for training if you need them, but that adds to the costs, and also takes time.

In any case my objection to the draft is not the time it takes. My objections are the injustice of a draft, and the fact that highly trained (and willing) professional soldiers are more useful than draftees.
