That's actually longer than I thought polar bears had been around.

It goes to show that they evolved to meet the harshest environment on earth, and they can evolve for other climates as well. Nature is much more resilient than we give her credit for.

When I was in Juneau I could go out and grab a little chunk of glacial ice floating in Mendenhall Lake. Used as an icecube, it crackled and popped as it released that CO2.

Wikipedia has a good discussion of the Pleistocene. It lasted about 1.8 million years, and ended about 11,000 years ago. en.wikipedia.org

Glaciation waxed and waned a number of times during the Pleistocene. I expect no changes in habit just because humans are in the way of it now.
