He was a lawyer at a law firm you silly person. In addition, he was a community organizer paid $12K by the local church. Also, he worked as a University Professor/lecturer. All of this happened before he joined the Illinois Senate. So half of Obama's working years were in the private sector and half in politics.

"Obama worked as a community organizer, university lecturer, and lawyer before serving in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004."

Now let's examine John McCain. He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1981. Then he went into politics in 1982 and has been in it ever since. John McCain has NEVER worked in the private sector. He has received a government paycheck his entire life, and a long one it has been.

I'd say both Obama and McCain have served their country honorably and well, albeit, McCain has served longer.
