70% of tech companies reporting so far have beaten estimates (source: Bloomberg). Medium term I'm as bearish as you. But if you ignore housing (which the bulls do), then all the recent data is exactly consistent with a short shallow downturn which is already half over. It appears the real situation will take time to emerge and this bear market is going to be fairly drawn out.
