I don't believe that Rev. Wright actually believes half the stuff he says about the government deliberately giving black people AIDS, etc.

I don't either. He says it to justify the racial resentment he and his congregation feels. I think Wright and Obama are very intelligent guys. I'd feel better about them morally if I thought they were ignorant enough to genuinely believe that stuff.

Both ought to be smart enough to know Obama's campaign is in a vulnerable place now and Wright making public appearances isn't going to help him. He's essentially undercutting Obama's chances.

Wright is either driven by ego and likes the attention or he's deliberately trying to sabotage Obama.
