I certainly hope we avoid it but I see lots of hardship around me in northern California. My husband went to a home auction this week and saw a small home go for 425k...............the people owed the bank over 700k on the house when they walked away from it. Jobs are being lost in various retail sectors and banks have risen the interest rates on home loans. We have a neighbor that has a sister's family living with her so they can keep their home. Lots of homes with Bank Owned words hanging on the For Sale signs. Costco is rationing rice purchases!!!! OF course gasoline theft is rising exponentially. A good business to be in would be to sell gas cap locks!! We are paying 3.87/gal for gas.
