Interesting new addition to the y2k scam: "Securities firm Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) expensed about $45 million in the third quarter to solve the upcoming Year 2000 computer problem, an analyst said Monday". Full story (Reuters) at

biz.yahoo.com

More: ''A management contact said the costs to DLJ of fixing this is expected to be around $80-$90 million, of which approximately half has already been reflected in the expense line,'' said analyst Raphael Soifer of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co in a research report in which he also raised his earnings estimates for the firm.

Let's use the .05 cents/LOC that some on this board are so fond of. We then see that DLJ has 80 million/.05 = 1.6 billion LOC. Fascinating.
