The use of satellite imaging by farmers in the US has also helped improve yields. The satellites can determine where different fertilizers can be used to improve the soil's chemical makeup. They can also help with irrigation efforts, where and which crops need more watering efforts.

I would assume that Europe has been catching up in these areas but the US had a major lead in this area not too long ago.
