If the gateway theory were correct, we would have millions of addicts in this country. Somewhere around 3/4 of all Americans have tried cannabis. Most leave it behind due to drug testing or because they do not wish to risk legal problems, or because they just outgrow it. Some continue using it responsibly as adults. Only a few develop addictions, usually to other substances, but as is usual when cannabis is involved, no real gov't studies have been done to prove this one way or the other, or at least, none that have been released. Just more FUD.
