You mocked paying for people's health care. In countries where there is no safety net, people die in the streets. That's just the way it is. You're going to have to tolerate that if you don't want a safety net. Were you not aware people die in the streets where there are no safety nets? People die in the street here too- just not as many people. It's not all that absurd, if you read the news. The deaths of street people are usually in the back pages- but they do die, and they do die in the streets. But you'd have many more dying there if you didn't have a safety net that paid for health care.

If you actually DO want a safety net, then it makes sense to be cost effective about it, and keep people healthy.
