A democracy in Israel and a new democracy in Iraq that must be supported is the only path to peace in the middle east.

I'm always leery of people who claim there is only one way to do anything. It shows a level of hubris that should be wholly absence from an enlightened problem solving environment. I think we should continue promise to defend Israel in case they are attacked in an act of war and they ask for our help. I'd love to see Iraq's emerging Democracy take root and flourish. However, the US doesn't have just one problem to solve like Bush and you would have us believe. We have many, many problems and we have limited resources with which to solve them. Therefore, we have to prioritize. Right now, we need to balance our budget and get to energy independence. Those two steps will do more to destroy the funding for terrorists and radical Islam around the world than any action we could take with our troops in the Middle East. If we make oil irrelevant, then the those Saudi Princes whom Bush is in bed with will not be so sanguine about funding our worst enemies.
