You know this, how?
It is intuitively obvious. First and foremost, they haven't been able to attack us here since 9/11, and in fact, turned to attacking other countries shortly after 9/11, which suggests they were unable to attack here. More recently, they've been unable to attack ANYONE, other than in Iraq, where they're being defeated, clearly.
But it is rather obvious that an organization which is constantly, DAILY, on the run and without modern communications, and relegated to living in tents in the outer reaches of Afghanistan and Pakistan, is less able to formulate any attack plan than an organization that is not so-hindered.
It really isn't debatable; AQ isn't dead, but they are severely injured at this point. That's not to say they aren't a threat -- as long as there are any live, moving parts, they're a threat. But they clearly are less of one today than they were on 9/10/2001.
It was in 1993 that the WTC was bombed. It was 2001 that the planes hit. 2001-1993 is 8 years.
Your dancing in the street might be a bit premature.
I'm not dancing in the street. I fully recognize we could be hit again. IN fact, I'm apparently one of the few on this thread who does (as I recall, some of you were calling 9/11 a "lucky hit").
But I also am willing to give credit to the current government where it is due -- they clearly have dealt a major blow to AQ in the ensuing years since 9/11. |
