So Republicans need to get used to the idea that just calling someone "liberal" isn't going to ensure their defeat anymore.
It isn't a matter of "calling someone a liberal" -- the question is what is the track record. What little we do know about Obama is that he has the most liberal voting record in the Senate.
Now, whether you like the name or not, the American people do not want a left wing radical as their president. We know this; this is why both Dem candidates will move the center as soon as the primaries are over -- they know it, too.
They are going to need a truly superior candidate to beat the Dems this year, and sorry, McCain isn't it.
To tell the truth, these two Dem candidates are weaker than either Gore or Kerry. And frankly, I did not think there was any way the Dems could run a weaker candidate than Gore, then they came up with Kerry. Now, these two.
It seems that Dems have a propensity to pick the worst possible candidates and run them as president.
Had the Dems chosen, for example, Biden, they would be undefeatable. But in going for the extremist, they have effectively shot themselves in the foot just as they have the last two elections.
I like Romney better, personally, and think Ron Paul is the smartest of the bunch, but he's unelectable.
Paul is pretty close to being a lunatic. Stupid.
Romney was phoney -- still better than the Dems, but he had a lot of problems I believe.
The best candidate, and the one who could have won without even a fight, was Huckabee. A far better candidate than McCain. But he'll still be there for next time around. |
