What puts him left though is that he wants to raise taxes.

Raising taxes is only a "left" position if it is unconditional. The "right" makes cutting taxes the answer for everything as a matter of faith. I think Obama makes raising taxes a likelihood because that is the correct course now, not because he thinks raising taxes should be a knee-jerk reaction.

You can't cure an ailing economy by cutting taxes. That would only benefit companies or persons who are already doing well enough to pay significant taxes. What is needed is a policy that aids those who are struggling. A tax cut now would be a waste.

What this economy needs is either targeted aid, or a reduction of the deficit. Either would have a chance of improving the economy.
