Just heard CNN correspondent Roland Martin say that he had spoken to people close to Rev. Wright who had told him that he mustn't go on this speaking tour; that it would impact the campaign. Wright went anyway. David Gergen said it was the most selfish, narcissistic act he had seen in forty years of politics, which is saying something from Gergen.

I am sure that Hillary is watching with feelings of wonder and contempt. This is a man who claims he is ready to be President, and take the daily incoming fire of that office, but he cannot control his pastor or his wife (who just made another whiny "they keep moving the bar" speech) to get them to stay on message? What kind of a politician is he? He claims to be a leader? Let him show some steel!

You can just bet that if it had been Hillary Clinton's campaign that Wright was about to derail, he and the new pastor would have had a visit from City Hall, informing them just how sudden and total would be the halt of the City Hall gravy train, how utter the disfavor that would fall on Trinity United, the neighborhood it served, and anybody remotely connected with the church - and they would all know exactly who to blame for it.

We are not done with this story by a long shot, imo. The impact has barely begun.
