I think environmentalists are not very pragmatic regarding energy.

I think that's way too broad. That category contains everything from preservationists and conservationists to twinkie-brained tree huggers. I spent a dozen years at EPA. If that doesn't give you a sense of what environmentalists are and aren't, I don't know what does. There are plenty of pragmatists. As in most interest groups, the loudest and the shrillest get quoted.
