What happens with people like Obama is that they cloister themselves with like-thinkers and consequently lose any kind of compass on where their group-think views may fall on the political spectrum.

IMO, that's why Obama could so easily make those foolish comments about "bitter", people in small towns, etc. He was speaking to one of his cloistered groups of like-thinkers. I'm sure he's made many of the same comments over cocktails with friendlies.

I've always believed that the stupid public remarks of politicians slipped out because they were so used to voicing the same or similar comments in private. The Kerry comments about the military and that being in Iraq is what happens if you don't do well in school is another good example.

The Rev. Wright running commentary is perhaps the best example of all...lol. He keeps complaining about being taken out of context, but he keeps digging the hole deeper with every new speech. What a dweeb! <g>
