None of that excuses any of Wright's conspiracy theories, such as the government inventing the AIDS virus, or 9/11 being an inside job, or even "God Damn America." Nowhere in the Bible is that type of behavior condoned; even Abraham prayed that Sodom and Gomorrah be spared. Listening to a Chicago (professional) black woman on the TV just a while ago. She said that when she moved to the city, it was recommended that this was one of 2 black churches that she attend to network. Said she went about 6 times, and met the movers and shakers in the black community. Said it wasn't like a small congregation, it was huge and people were lined up every Sunday to get in. She also said she never heard any of this rhetoric, and that she has talked to everyone she knows and that no one has heard this stuff. Up to you if you want to see this as a tempest in a teapot or some real issue. If I could remember any of the sermons I heard as a kid, and I heard A LOT, then I would probably disagree with some (maybe most). Do you ever disagree with your minister?
