Considering how big Walmart has become, where is the competition?

All over the place. Walmart's big but its only a fraction of total retail spending.

You conveniently push aside both deductions for personal debt interest and welfare to work because they show that your original point is incorrect.

I "push them aside" precisely because they show no such thing.

We don't have to have lowest common denominator insurance whatever that is, we can have good health care for all.

If you seriously think we can have universal coverage that goes as far as the best currently available private coverage, your living in a fantasy world.

We must have a new system because what we have is not very good and is getting much worse.

What we have is pretty good, and getting better. The big problem is that its much to expensive, and getting more expensive. But there is no reason to think that single payer will change that trend, except perhaps at the expense of quality (at least the reduction of future increases in quality)

So you approve of Healthnet canceling policies after their customers get sick and are in the midst of being sick?

If they violate their own agreement and commit fraud, I don't approve.

If the provide what they contracted for, than they met the terms of the agreement. They are a business not a charity.
