ARRS cable QAM is 2+2(4 channels) or 4+4(8 channels) to provide 80 mbps or 160 mbps Docsis 3.0 data transmission services thru fiber optics network to HFC networks. For telco copper network on the pole, 24 channel DSLam can be changed to 64 channel edgeQAM(but starting slow at 24 channels) in one analog transmission, supported by 1 ghz repeaters. We hope that Sprint and Verizon cellphone microwave towers will also go with 64 channel edgeQAM analog signals. Each cellphone can use 2 channels of data up to 64 someday when submicron technology can supply economical integrated circuits.
