Solomon brothere issued STRONG BUY ON AETNA AND THAT IT IS TRADING DIRT CHEAP here.

NEW YORK, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Salomon Brothers said it lowered its earnings estimates on Aetna Inc after meeting with Aetna Chief Executive Dick Huber.

A ramp-up in earnings will come at a less aggressive rate than Salomon previously had thought.

The 1998 estimate went to $5.10 per share from $5.50.

The 1999 view went to $6.25 from $6.55.

The 1997 estimate was unchanged at $4.48.

The rating on Aetna remained a strong buy.

The stock remains cheap on the basis of cash flow of over $7 per share next year.

Aetna was up 11/16 to 80 in morning trading.
