Have had a pretty rough day today. Went to bowling and one of our bowling mates didn't show. She is very dependable about letting us know when she is going to be absent and is rarely not there. We kept watching the door expecting her to enter it. Think I have a crick in my neck from turning to look at the front door so many times. Called her home several times only to get a busy signal. Called when I got home and line also still busy. I decided to try one more time and her daughter, who was visiting her, answered the phone. Asked to speak to her Mom and she burst out in tears and told me she collapsed and died last night. Our whole team is in terrible shock as that is the last thing we expected to hear. Won't know until tomorrow possibly what caused her death. A funeral probably on Saturday.

I just hate being I am at the age when friends start passing on and since I also bowl with her in a senior league on Mondays, it is going to be so sad not seeing her smiling face again. She has always been so full of life, watched her health closely and if anything is true "Here today and gone tomorrow" is and I think too close for comfort. She was a terrific bowler and the anchor on our team. We were going to be on the same team in our senior league starting June 1st and I so looked forward to that. She was a friend acquired later in my life through bowling, but such a good one to have in one's life.

Sorry to sound so down, but I have only lost one other close girl friend some ten years ago to Cancer and not much experience with losing any of my girl friends. Maybe a good night's sleep will bring a new day of hope and some resolution from the shock of today. When someone you love like a sister departs your life, memories do live on and I will definitely depend on those to see me through this loss.
