No. But he clearly built it to the huge congregation it is today. I don't see any need for Obama to separate himself from Trinity. Rather, I suspect he wants to embrace it. It's, as I read, a very mixed population--mostly black but with whites, etc. and a mix of income groups. I was struck, to repeat myself, by the MSNBC anchor who said when she arrived in Chicago ten years ago Trinity was recommended as one of two black chuches on the South Side where she could "network" given her career interests as a black professional.

Moreover, best I can tell, Trinity is the model of what a church should be, given its many very good works.
