I think Obama doesn't need to separate himself from Rev Wright as much as he needs to separate Rev Wright from Trinity Church & the mainstream black narrative. I am a bit surprised he hasn't made this point more forcefully. The main sound byte from his press conference the other day was more about how Wright has hurt him and his campaign. Political expediency is not reason enough to throw the pastor under the bus - but that the pastor has become an obstacle to reconciliation and has essentially aligned himself with Farrakhan. It is possible Obama doesn't look at it this way - then it's another red flag
