Precious metals tumble as dollar rises, oil falls

LONDON, May 1 (Reuters) - Precious metals fell sharply in late European trade on Thursday, as a rise in the dollar against the euro and weaker oil prices triggered a broad sell-off in metals, traders said.

Spot gold fell to a four-month low of $847.10 an ounce and was quoted at $848.00/848.70 by 1440 GMT, against $864.65/866.05 in New York late on Wednesday.

Silver and palladium fell to three-month lows, while platinum declined nearly three percent. (Reporting by Atul Prakash; editing by Nigel Hunt)
