this is the reason the republicans are swimming upstream this year. The war and the economy. People are turning against free trade, even though they express it as opposition to NAFTA. Free health care is also a big one. I get this from middle-class friends. people are feeling the economic screws. Bush and Rove screwed the pooch and the party on this one. McCain is going to turn the knife in a different way. You're seeing the demo party split into left and far left. the repub has several more fissures. Bush feels more like an old-fashioned liberal to me with a streak of evangelical morality. the economic news is not good out there. i don't know why they passed that new bankruptcy law. it's like they knew the middle-class was going to be under attack and wanted to protect as many of the credit card companies as they could.
