The Asia-Pacific, or non- Japan markets, is making a "very strong return" and will emerge as the second largest chip market worldwide, shedding the effects of the Asian economic crisis that contributed to the 4.4 percent decline of that market last year. Europe will be right behind Asia-Pacific and has gained momentum over the last year. The Japan market is still being impacted by the protracted domestic recession. The Asia Pacific market is doing very well due to their strong economy.
Americas: The Americas will grow 13 percent to $47 billion in 1999, 21 percent to $56 billion in 2000, 21 percent to $68 billion in 2001, 11 percent to $76 billion in 2002.
European Market: This region will grow 6 percent in 1999 to $31 billion, 20 percent to $37 billion in 2000, 20 percent to $45 billion in 2001, 11 percent to $50 billion in 2002.
Japanese Market: This region will grow 21 percent to $31 billion in 1999, 19 percent to $37 billion in 2000, 16 percent to $43 billion in 2001, 10 percent to $48 billion in 2002.
Asia Pacific Market: This region has been home to the world's fastest growing economy. This region will grow 21 percent to $35 billion in 1999, 23 percent to $43 billion in 2000, 25 percent to $53 billion in 2001, 14 percent to $61 billion in 2002.
