Sanctions would have crumbled for humanitarian reasons if nothing else. Iraq was starving its own kids to prove its point to the world. Many on the internatinal anti-american left had already picked up on this. Meanwhile saddam was raking in the bucks. He was a bad dude. Look you guys won the debate but it wasnt ever a slam dunk.
