"Buying software companies that "give it away" isn't the answer either." I intentionally did not mention this sore spot. No matter how far back one goes on this thread, there has never been a time when SUNW (symbols when it started) shareholders understood or saw the financial wisdom in this. I do give away things, but in return, I am able to take a deduction on my tax returns. JAVA's giving things away does not result in any tax benefits to either JAVA or us shareholders (on our taxes).
