Meet and greet at my place...

5/2/2008 10:39:19 AM Officials with the U.S. Treasury Department are planning to meet privately with Wall Street executives and bankers Friday, the Wall Street Journal is reporting.

The meetings are part of an effort to counter Congressional Democrats who have been pushing for a tougher approach to deal with the housing crisis, the Journal said.

One of the meetings will be held at the New York City offices of JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM), the report said. There will reportedly be six total meetings, bringing together treasury officials, loan servicers, and bankers.

The Journal added that Neel Kashkari, a senior adviser to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, and Phillip Swagel, assistant secretary for economic policy, are leading the meetings.
