Against that debt is the present value of future taxes to be collected.

And your chances of killing SS are ZERO. What will happen (and is already) is the gov't will lie about the amount of inflation (does anyone REALLY believe there was only 4% inflation in the last year?) to keep COLA down and inflate the currency to cause automatic tax increases and make the remaining obligations easier to pay.
