The worst part of Wright's shtick is that it's so hackneyed. Blacks have rhythm. Blacks brains are build different. I swear if he'd kept talking we'd have heard all about blacks and their watermelons.

When I watched Wright's buffoonery in the Press Club Q&A (not imo the buffoonery of one who makes a fool of himself by accident, but the professional buffoonery of an entertainer playing to his audience) I thought that if there are still secret old-time Southern racists, the kind who hold that negroes are at bottom perpetual children, seeking only short-term gratification, needing the firm rule of the white man, why then Jeremiah Wright had just provided these racists with confirmation for their beliefs. Wright preferred the pleasure of playing to his audience (and of knifing that ingrate Barack) to maintaining his dignity, the dignity of the event, and the hopes of the first serious black Presidential candidate.
