His letter to Ric Ford was dashed off, but he then called the guy and smoothed out their differences. (You saw Ford's account of that, right?).

There was no excuse, Ford is a loyal follower and the only reason there are so many rumours around Apple is the screwed up condition of the company.

Then Jobs went back and did damage control.

It is a testament to Jobs salesmanship that Ford was wetting his panties over Jobs just a few hours after being insulted all because Ford _cared_ about Apple and in the process might have posted incorrect rumours (which are explictly labeled as such) in his macintouch site. (Apple followers, _demand_ better).

Jobs does have technological vision and is good making sales (hey! have you heard the one about paying $400 M for a company with $50 M in sales and no profits?). He also seems to be completely out of touch with what corporate America wants.
