zone update:

i benched 170 lbs x 8 today, so the progress-o-meter starts back up. i've been hitting +5 lbs every 21 days with my old work out, so improving or maintaining that level of progression is my goal.

i set a couple of 2009 goals:

1. bench 250 lbs 8 times
2. run a 60 second 400m
3. run a 5:30 mile

you can officially consider these goals insane. if you knew me, you surely would. ;-)

they ought to be impossible to achieve, according to conventional wisdom... which is the point.

why settle for the possible when the impossible opens up before you?

i weighed in at 160 lbs this morning - so i'm definitely gaining muscle mass. my waist (belly button high) is slightly below 32". i've started getting more aggressive on the cardio, so the waist should start shrinking toward 31".

i'm battling elbow nerve damage, a bad back and a bad hip - not to mention i'm not all that athletic relative to guys that a pretty good athletes.

i was also battling 2 decades of muscle atrophy, but i pretty much beat that problem into submission.

if i can do this, you can to.

it's not the shoes, it's the diet, money.
