But you can get a Cyrix 6x86 PR233 for less and it benchmarked better. That's the problem!

I've considered buying either Cyrix 6x86 or AMD K6. I have nothing personal against either one. But when it comes down to the actual decision, I rather prefer the original brand, which is Intel. Right now I will pay a $100-$200 premium for Intel. Maybe I'm just a sucker, or have too much pride. A brand franchise is a powerful thing, just ask Coke. Sure you can buy house-brand cola for cheaper, so why do people keep buying Coke? Guess they've always liked the way it tastes, and they like knowing it will always taste just as as good. That's brand franchise, and Intel has that also, IMO.
