Or you could call it leading by example. Hypocrisy is a problem for large greedy nations guzzling resources that developing nations may not be able to cleanly extract so they can sell them to the large greedy nations. That needs to be blunted a bit before you can, as a large greedy nation, presume to tell the rest of the world what to do. Greedy man's burden, and all that.
