You're easy, of course you can. When I said "optimize," I meant "optimize." Conserving energy is hardly optimizing the supply. Quite the opposite, really, constraining your needs to meet the limited supply, not increasing the supply to cover your needs. Not that that's a bad approach, just one that isn't responsive to the framework posed. Likewise, if you're using one drop of oil, you're not optimizing the health of the environment. What you have done is offer an approach to the inevitable trade off between the two, not optimizing either.
