Plug it in to a 110v socket for four or five hours.

Yeah... see, that's a problem for a lot of people. I live in an apartment and park on the street. I would never be able to charge my car. Not saying that it's insurmountable, we'd just need to build some new infrastructure.

In MN, because its so cold, you put this devise around you radiator and then plug it in at nite.......it keeps your engine warm and helps it start up in the morning. Every major apt complex has outlets for its tenants in the tenant's parking space. It became a normal amenity. It will be the same for electric cars. Its even doable with duplexes and triplexes with offstreet parking. In addition, office buildings can do the same thing. The cost can be included in the parking fee. Its really not an insurmountable problem.
