Wanna jump in? -g- The main cause of hyperinflation is a massive and rapid increase in the amount of money, which is not supported by growth in the output of goods and services en.wikipedia.org federalreserve.gov This is not hyperinflationary, but definitely as far from deflationary as it can get -ggg- Here is 1970-s in comparison. You can see that money supply growth was really slow in the early 90-s when the Japanese bubble blew up, and even turned negative at one point.
