I think the calf was born late, since other calves in the area looked almost a month older. It seemed only a few days old, and totally innocent and incautious. Must have been well into June, so the vegetation was quite thick.

Just did the annual survey of my front yard after the snow melt, and found two piles of moose droppings. That's typical. They really spread themselves out evenly all over the neighborhood.
