Hadn't heard that song for a few decades. That was indeed an interesting time and part of the world to travel through as a long-haired male. One of the incidents: I was hitchhiking near Lakeland, Florida, in July, 1972, when a pickup full of rednecks went by. They all whooped and hollered at the hippie prevert and how they were going to kick my ass, etc. Naturally, I gave them the extended middle finger salute, and then realized that might have been an error, as they got to a turnaround and started heading back in my direction. As it turned out, a few seconds later, someone stopped and I caught a ride out of there. [Back to topic: Divine intervention? You decide<g>]
