here are a few reasons why I would vote for Obama, a few reasons why I would vote for McCain, and absolutely no reason why I would vote for Clinton.
I'm a little surprised to hear you say this.
I could vote for Hillary in a pinch, but there is no way in hell I could vote for Obama. As a moderate, I would think most other moderates are in the same boat.
While it is true we know very little about Obama, what we do know is that he is an absolute extremist. But the real concern is more about what we DON'T know.
Ten, did you watch the Russert show yesterday? Of course, it was the useful love-fest, with Russert throwing softballs. Obama came across as extremely tentative and naive. It reminded me, literally, of someone going for his first job interview out of college. While he is articulate and presents with a sense of honesty, the answers to important questions are missing or incomplete, and there appear to be huge gaps in his knowledge.
All that said, his optimism and charisma does appeal to me. Unfortunately, it just isn't backed up by the kind of tempering and experience that is necessary for the most powerful man in the world. There is a very real concern on my part that America could elect an absolutely unproven neophyte for the office this time.
Contrast Obama's track record with the record of accomplishment held by TR when he took office. It is amazing to me that Obama is even in the race. |
